August 23: Another week and more rain!!

As quick as we dig out trenches they are filling with rain, but the geophysical survey is progressing quite nicely and the backlog of finds from our other digging activities is really going down!

No we haven't lost anybody, but it does show what we've been up against.  This was a trench that was to complete from last year and we had just finished excavating it on Monday evening.  Tuesday morning and this is what we found, over a metre of water in the hole!

The extreme archaeology programme has nothing on the Bath & Cam.  Here is the extreme magnetometer team kitted up for a wet survey session! (No metal allowed!  Please note the designer wellies)

On a much more serious note we have nearly cleared the gateway site and the features are beginning to show.
