Week ending 3rd September

The weather has improved and now we shall all be moaning about how dry it has become!!

The gateway has been uncovered and a very complex sequence of stone buildings and ditches can be seen and detailed planning has been taking place before decisions about the digging can be made.

Work has progressed on the ditches in area A next to the well.  Here a layer of charcoal has been found within the inner ditch and fragments of a 30cm diameter column have been retrieved from the outer ditch.

One of the fragments is being cleaned at our base at the farm.
